This is not about the Mattel toy line. This is about a fictional television show I came up with. It's a Camp Monkee Mallard thing. What's the fun of having characters work for a TV/movie studio when you can't make up your own shows for your characters?
Anyway, like my "Dream Dancer" show, this is a Camp Monkee Mallard thing, meant for Saturday mornings. The title *does* come from the Mattel toy cars, but it has nothing to do with cars.
It's motorcycles.
The main character is called Hot Wheels ("Wheels" for short, the character's real name is Harvey Donaldson), and is a motorcycle racer and daredevil, mostly travelling around the world with a circus troupe. He and his pit crew would also tackle mysteries that came their way (yeah, that's a TV Trope for ya right there, but without that, there'd be no show).
THE CAMP CAST:
As far as Camp Members appearing in this, there are a couple:
Reggie plays Hot Wheels, and does his own driving, though he does have a double for more dangerous stunts (a trained professional motorcycle daredevil named Grant Grey)
The Camp Members of the Hot Wheels Pit Crew:
Mike as Tim Gage, Hot Wheels's chief mechanic Quacky as Ernie Jackson, a competant mechanic, but a bit slow on the uptake Phyllis as Nora Nicholls, a tomboy, who is the fastest jack in the west. Leland as Nicky Redgrave, the obligatory Kid Character Who Idolizes The Hero
The Non-Camp Main Characters Include the following:
Lisa Nagasaki, an Asian-American mechanic Jeff Horton, Hot Wheels's resident wise guy Frank Barriston, the owner of the circus Sophia Rockwell, Hot Wheels's love interest
I have a recurring villian as well, Norman Sinclair, who's son, Billy, is a top notch motorcyclist, and would be the top of his game, if not for Hot Wheels. Sinclair is a crooked business man, and also has romantic interest in Sophia Rockwell.
In true 1980's style, each episode features a PSA. What can I say? A lot of my TV spoofs are 80's style. That's the era I grew up in, and in my opinion, the 80's had some of the best TV shows around.
Funny thing, the G.I. Joe PSA's of the 80's partly inspired this. I don't care much for G.I. Joe, but I like the G.I. Joe PSA's.
